Overview

Cosmeceuticals are products comprising both cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, that are applied toward improving and managing both dermal health and beauty. A cosmeceutical product is available over the counter without prescription, which can improve the appearance and function of skin layers. Cosmeceutical is one of the fastest growing part of the personal care industry. Cosmeceuticals are widely used for treating conditions including photoaging, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and hair damage. Nanotechnology has an important role in the field of cosmeceuticals. The ability to formulate sophisticated systems encapsulating active ingredients for an effective topical delivery has created opportunities for innovations, which provide new prospective for the future industrial applications of cosmeceuticals. There are many advantages of nanotechnology- based cosmeceuticals such as increasing the bioavailability, stability and protection of active ingredients and provide prolonged effects. Cosmeceuticals are manufactured from a wide range of products including vitamins, peptides, hydroxy acids, botanicals, and growth factors. A cosmeceutical product is available over the counter without prescription, which can improve the appearance and function of skin layers.
