Overview
Immunotherapy is a type of biological treatment that helps the immune system to precisely and effectively fight against an array of diseases like cancer, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), obesity, and other co-morbidities. Some of the immunotherapies include Monoclonal Antibodies (mAb), Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR)-T Lymphocytes (CAR-T cells), Cytokines, Adoptive Immune Cell Transfer, Therapeutic Vaccines etc. Functional Immunomics is a field of study to explore the molecular functions associated with all immune‐related genes and proteins using genomics, proteomics and systems immunological strategies.
These recent technologies allow us to sequence DNA and RNA much more quickly and cheaply than the previously used Sanger sequencing, and as such have revolutionised the study of genomics and molecular biology.
Objectives
- To test novel combinatorial immune therapies to precisely attenuate immunosuppressive signaling inhibitors for the treatment of cancer, autoimmune diseases, and other related co-morbidities.
- To assess cytokines for the treatment of cancer, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and other related co-morbidities.
- To apply high throughput functional Immunomics strategies for the identification and characterization of immune cells in health and disease.
- To derive and test the adoptive transfer of immune cells like M2 macrophages, mast cells, dendritic cells, T-lymphocytes, and CAR-T cells to treat cancer, diabetes, CVD, obesity, autoimmune diseases, and related co-morbidities.
