Center Divisional Structure
Technical Support Unit

The TSU is a core technical facility where all the experiments will be performed under the supervision of fully-trained technical staff.

The TSU is now composed of the following technical services and their overall tasks: Molecular Biology service
  • Nucleic acid and protein extraction
  • Recombinant DNA cloning and restriction digestion
  • Other required general molecular biology techniques
Advanced Sequencing service
  • Capillary DNA sequencing and fragment analysis
  • Next-generation high-throughput sequencing (NGS)
Lab On Chip service
  • Affymetrix and Agilent microarray platforms for expression, methylation and SNP analysis
  • Detection of genetic variations on custom chips
Proteomics service
  • Protein identification, interaction and quantification using latest mass spectrometry technology
Bioinformatics service
  • Analysis of the microarray and NGS data
  • Biostatistical Analysis
  • Intranet infrastructure for data acquisition and integration
Biobanking service
  • Storage and cataloging of biological research materials for controlled access.

Future additions to the TSU will include:

Ethics and Quality Control service
  • Obtain the necessary ethical approvals required for each research project from the relevant committees
  • Quality control assessment of equipments and experimental procedures
Clinical Research
  • The Clinical Research division will be head by an experienced clinical scientist with experience in conducting successful clinical trials. The division will also include administrative staff with the remit of coordinating the different trials.
  • The clinical trials division will be established in Phase II to facilitate the commercialization of products and tests output from the Translational Medical Applications division.
